چکیده
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has been working toward the establishment of treatment standards for contaminated soils. The Office of Emergency and Remedial Response is in the process of developing and carrying out a plan to address the data needs for establishing the Pest Demonstrated Available Technologies (BDAT) for Superfund soils. The BDAT program is divided into phases. Phase One, completed in December 1987, evaluated the performance of various treatment technologies utilizing an artificially contaminated soils. The soil composition and contaminant concentrations were designed to reflect those of typical Superfund soils with slight modification for some health and cost concerns. The second phase of the Superfund BDAT program will be to carry but the technology evaluations on real Superfund soils.

Ability of some crops for phytoremediation of nickel and zinc heavy metals from contaminated soils
The present study was aimed at comparing the ability of three crop plants for phytoremediation of zinc (Zn) and nickel (Zn) from soils. A factorial (3×2×3) experiment based on RCBD was used to compare the treatments, and was repeated three times. The first factor was crop type (wheat, clover and rapeseed), the second factor was heavy metal types (zinc (Zn) and nickel (Ni)) and the third factor ...
متن کاملRole of Arbuscular Mycorrhizal (AM) Fungi in Phytoremediation of Soils Contaminated: A Review
Pollution of the soil environment with toxic materials from fossil burning, mining and smelting of metalliferous ores, disposal of sewage, fertilizers and pesticides, etc. has increased dramatically since the onset of industrial revolution. Application of plants with ability of absorbing heavy metals is a low-cost alternative for eliminating soils from heavy metals. Phytoremediation uses plants...

متن کاملGermination, Growth and Uptake of Heavy Metals in Contaminated Soils (Hordeum bulbosum L.)
The use of metal-accumulating plants to clean the contaminated soil with toxic metals is the most rapidly developing component of phytoremediation as an environmentally friendly technology. Overcoming harsh soil conditions and accelerating the recovery of degraded soils remain a worldwide restoration challenge. This study evaluated the effect of different concentrations of Pb, Zn, Cu and Fe on ...
متن کاملIsolation and characterization of a heavy metal-resistant Burkholderia sp. from heavy metal-contaminated paddy field soil and its potential in promoting plant growth and heavy metal accumulation in metal-polluted soil.
A heavy metal-resistant bacterial strain was isolated from heavy metal-contaminated soils and identified as Burkholderia sp. J62 based on the 16S rDNA gene sequence analysis. The heavy metal- and antibiotic resistance, heavy metal solubilization of the isolate were investigated. The isolate was also evaluated for promoting plant growth and Pb and Cd uptakes of the plants from heavy metal-contam...
